Not the first but with our own spin “literally”. We were inspired by the youtube surprise wedding dance stars to do this. I have to say it was a lot of fun and our guests enjoyed it. Also, we are not the youngest couple, I’m 40 and she’s 30 and by no means professional dancers so I think we really surprised everyone with some of our moves. How my bride got through this with a broken bustle and a Janet Jackson incident is beyond me. Hope you enjoy as much as we did:)

The first time is always the hardest and even though private instruction is just that, private, group classes are not really that intimidating.  Most people you’ll find in these sorts of groups are extremely encouraging and friendly. However if you’re really shy then private instruction is the way to go. With all the TV coverage it’s really got people saying I want to do that.

Sequence and New Vogue dancing is easy to learn. You start with easy ones and then progress to the more difficult amalgamations.  Since the exposure of dance in the media dancing in all types and styles has really taken off. Classes have increased dramatically and people want more. There are over one hundred sequence dances and more are being created and published via the UK, finally reaching the Australian shores. Here in Australia we have tended to take on British dancing from our early origins and have taken their dance styles through to today. Sequence dancing has taken on the same rhythms from the ballroom such as Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha, Samba, Jive or Swing. Some of the sequences dances to name, just a few, Georgella Blues, Saunter Together, Glen Roy Foxtrot, Georgella Blues, Mayfair Quickstep, Melody Foxtrot, Ragtime Swing, Rumba One.

There are many places around Australia to learn all these dances, one particular non profit organization is the Ulladulla District Dance Group Inc. This organization has been going now for more than 30 years in the Ulladulla south coast NSW area. They have been successful in promoting the best and most attended sequence ball (held in last May) in NSW and on the south coast. Many couples drive long distances to enjoy this great night out and spend the weekend in this beautiful town and catch up with all their friends from Canberra, Sydney and even Bega. Ulladullla is a famous fishing town it’s beautiful harbour and friendly people make it a great get away for dancers to visit for the weekend after they dance their feet off at this fabulous dance ball.

Other activities include a Friday night class before the big event, this gives many people time to chat up on there busy lives before the big night. The attendance has been stronger than ever since it started more than 10 years ago, with great music from a great band and organised with the best leadup work, which is why so many people to repeatedly book every year.

You can scout around in all cities for dance studios that teach these styles, your local area may have a studio. They may also include other styles of dance and this is quite common because of the variety people demand. Every studio may offer different styles so it’s best to contact them before making any commitments, each business will have different priced dance programs. Enjoy!

Erotic dance is a way for people to express themselves in a sexual way, without actually having sex. In our modern times, many dance styles have been considered forms of this style, as was evidenced in the wildly popular movie, “Dirty Dancing.” The fact that people like to dance sexually might trace back to the animals, or it could just be generational expression. But no matter the reason, dancing erotically will always be popular with someone.

Erotic dancing can be traced back as far as the Egyptians, and possibly even farther. A lot of modern erotic dances such as belly dancing and hip hop ballet are based on ancient dances. The Egyptians used erotic dances in their spiritual rituals, specifically in fertility ceremonies.

According to the Egyptians, during these dances the priestesses would “become” whatever goddess they were dancing for, usually Het Heret, Sekhmet, Bast, Nuit, and Aset. Then when the priests or other men slept with them, they were basically sleeping with a goddess. In many cases, these erotic dances were accompanied by the massive consumption of alcohol.

Couples wishing to conceive would visit these temples while the dances were going on, in hopes of becoming more fertile during that time. Gradually, such practices in Europe and civilized nations stopped over the years, mainly due to the Christianization of the modern world, and other factors.

However, erotic dances were still done in private and in certain select underground places. Still, the erotic dance began to regain popularity by the end of the 1700 and 1800s, resurfacing as strip clubs. The first strip tease began in France. The lady stripping pretended to be bothered by a flea, and had to take her clothes off to find it.

Most of the modern dances of today have their roots in those ancient dances. Over time, people become used to a certain kind of dance, yet when looking back on what was once considered “dirty dancing,” it can be amusing. At some point or other, most all ballroom dancing, classical ballet, waltzing, and the Salsa have all been considered dirty dances.

Of course, now most ballet school establishments offer these dances for instruction. Actually, what really constitutes dirty dances is up to the viewer. Erotic dance is a subject that people like to think about, and so many different movies have focused on dirty dances or sexual energy between partners. In general, a dancing person will always been seen as somewhat erotic because they are able to move their bodies with finesse.

Erotic dance has always been a popular form. A lot of people really enjoy watching someone dance in a graceful and skilled way. Almost everyone has wished to be as graceful on the dance floor as a ballet dancer, but for most people, those dancing skills are unattainable. But, the fact that it is unreachable for most people is one of the reasons why dirty dancing is so popular.

If the only time you dance is at weddings, you have no idea what you are missing out on. First of all not only is dancing fun, it is also exercise! Think about your moving your feet, your arms, your twisting away and giving yourself a full body workout. Ever noticed how sometimes the day after a wedding, your body is a little sore, especially if you do not workout before hand? Celebrities, who take part in Dancing with The Stars, have reported an increase in weight loss. The most traditional way of getting a good dancing workout is to turn on some music and let yourself go and boogie down. It is also an excellent way to incorporate some bonding time with your kids too if you included them. There are days when Ill turn on the radio and me and my daughter will just dance our feet off.

There might be some of you, who are looking for something a little more structured and instruction. Not to worry there is something for you also. Gyms all around the world are starting to offer dancing classes. Starting off there is Cardio Salsa. This class if offered at The Crunch gyms nationwide or you can look for it on DVD. It is a low impact high intensity workout that combines the hottest Latin dances such as the cha-cha, mambo, samba and more with traditional dance steps such as the grapevine, lunges and arm raises. What women are loving about this workout is that they can take what they learn on the videos or classes and take it to a night club if they want to!

Cardio Capoeira is also becoming another popular dance workout. It was featured briefly on the cool down segments of the hit exercise video Turbo Jam, but has come out on its own as a great workout. In fact for fans of the hit Movie Oceans 12 might remember it being featured as the Night Fox dodges the lasers to get to the goods, or you might remember Catherine Zeta-Jones using a similar dance in the movie Entrapment. Cardio Capoeira is a basically a form of martial arts that is disguised as dancing. It was used to train Brazilian slaves martial arts without letting their captors know. It requires a lot of kicking, spinning and even cartwheels. What makes this workout so powerful especially on your buttocks and quads is the move the ginga which links one movement to the next so you will find yourself doing this often.

Cardio Striptease is another dance workout that is sweeping the nation. There are a number of DVDs out that offer a cardio striptease workout. This routine is part burlesque, part yoga, and part gymnastics. There are no concise steps and the whole point of the routine is to allow you to move freely and beautifully and learn to express yourself. You never have to worry about holding any sort of poses but move from one move to another by using slow moving hip and butt circles. The aim of this workout is to tone the hips, buttocks, thighs calves and abs.

Of course you can always go the more traditional route and sign up for ballroom dancing classes which will still give you a great workout. Which ever one of these you choose, you will burning fat and calories while having a great time. You wont even know you are exercising, thats how much fun you will have.

Dancing is fun. Everybody should learn how to dance. If nothing else, what happens if you have a daughter and she gets married and expects you, as her father, to dance with her at her wedding? Won’t you look like a fool if you don’t know your two step from your samba? And you ladies, what gal doesn’t want to be swept off her feet on the dance floor by some hunky guy? Okay, so how about some tips for learning how to dance?

For starters, you DON’T have to go to a dance school. I don’t know why it is that people feel that they need to have one on one instruction. Sure, if the thought of some guy pawing you all day lights your bulb then go for it. Otherwise, it is just as easy to learn how to dance from watching some really well made videos. And the great part of videos is that you can start and stop them all you want. No hourly fee for lessons.

Dance shoes. If you are serious about this (you are serious, right?) then you are going to want to buy a pair of dance shoes. Depending on what kind of dancing you intend to do, those are the kind of dance shoes that you’re going to buy. You will not buy ballroom practice shoes to do square dancing and conversely, you’re not going to buy western dance boots for ballroom dancing. Yes, there are many different types of dance shoes. So you need to make sure you get the right pair for what you intend to learn.

Warming up. A lot of people just go right into their dance routine without any kind of warm up at all. This is asking for a cramp, pulled muscle or worse. It is ALWAYS a good idea to do some stretching exercises BEFORE you start dancing. That way, once the lessons begin, or your actual dancing begins, you don’t have to worry about being carried off the dance floor on a stretcher. I’m not kidding. Don’t go into dancing cold, especially if you’re not a kid anymore.

Dancing can be a ton of fun, and it’s not hard to learn how to dance. Essentially, it’s just a few steps. In my signature is a great resource that will get you started and on your way to becoming a professional dancer in no time at all.
