    @safenders actually …
    @safenders actually it’s related to Flamish folk music they just gave a Spanish twist to it. Flamenco also means Flamish. And of course the gypsy people mixed with each other and exchanged music. That’s why the Roma people also sortof have the same style. But it’s invented by the Spanish.

    @safenders I can …
    @safenders I can thrown of the Flamenci site floraflamenco for wanting to discuss Duendes. Ie., Duende is BOTH a Romany Andelusian Flamenco term with assocations of spirits of the earth,and the interfision of flamencos and singer dancers, but ALSo is Mazatec term meaning supernatural dwarves, ie., spirits of the magic mushrooms. ANOTHER connection!

    Yup you are right. …
    Yup you are right. The history of this style is debated even today. Although it is fact that this music is a blend of music heavily influenced by many differnt people who were living in Southern Spain. From Jews, Gypsies/Romani/ hindu, African/Arab/Moors, and a few differnt Euro ethnic styles. It even has influences from the Americas after The Spanish went there and brought new music styles with them back to Spain. This all leads up to now with what we recognize as Flamenco from Spain.

    I see what you mean …
    I see what you mean, but I wouldent class it as racist to say a partular music is associated with a particuler culture. I’m not surprised it has moorsih influence, the moors where on the Peninsula for about 800 years!

  • Arodinme6 says:

    I’m surprised that …
    I’m surprised that nobody has gone on to say that this is a Moorish music genre because it has Moorish influence! Honestly, these people saying flamenco belongs to “us” or “them” are just racists: music doesn’t belong to anyone, we just have the great opportunity to make and appreciate such amazing music!

    I don’t care who it “belongs” to, I just love FLAMENCO!
